Franken Talks About Wal-Mart

When he was in Fayetteville for a speaking engagement on Nov. 23, we asked Al Franken — the author, comedian and political commentator — what he thought about Wal-Mart Stores Inc. r

“Wal-Mart sells my books,” he said, “but I’m a little concerned with some of the effect Wal-Mart has on towns and Main Street businesses. Being from Minnesota, I do have some concern about that. Obviously, they’ve had some problems of late, some employment problems.”r

Franken was referring to the raids by immigration officials on illegal aliens working as janitors in Wal-Mart stores.r
