Washington Regional Medical Center in Fayetteville has received the 2003 Consumer Choice Award for the Fayetteville Metropolitan Statistical Area, which includes Benton and Washington counties. The honor, given by the National Research Corp., went to 3,000 hospitals nationwide selected by consumers as “having the highest quality and image” in their MSA, according to a news release issued by the hospital. r

The NRC surveyed more than 400,000 consumers in 48 states to come up with the winning list. r

Steve Lampkin, WRMC president and CEO, said the hospital is “honored” that consumers in Northwest Arkansas selected it for the award. r

“I have always known that Washington Regional’s greatest asset is our people,” Lampkin said in the news release. r

WRMC is a 233-bed acute care hospital established in 1950. The hospital recently celebrated its first anniversary in its new medical center adjacent to the North Hills Medical Park in north Fayetteville. r
