Lowe’s to Build Store in Springdale?

We hear Lowe’s Cos. Inc. plans to build one of its home improvement stores in Springdale.

Word is, the company is going to build on land owned by Gary George, CEO of Springdale’s George’s Inc. on the southwest corner of 40th Street and U.S. Highway 412.

Lowe’s wouldn’t confirm it, and George wouldn’t call us back. It was like trying to deal with Wal-Mart Stores Inc.

Lowe’s announced on Aug. 18 that it plans to expand beyond its base in the Southeast and primarily throughout the Midwest.
