Adrian Sturdevant is a third generation chiropractor. His grandfather and father were both country doctors who believed in the benefits of chiropractic medicine. That philosophy stuck with Sturdevant, who has opened a natural healing practice in Fayetteville with his wife, Lisa Fogel.
But, Sturdevant said, he has a different philosophy from some chiropractors.
“What sets us apart is that I don’t believe they have to see me every day for the rest of their lives,” he said.
Many problems can be helped in two or three visits, although some may take a few more sessions, depending on the problem or injury, he noted.
“Most people have the ability to heal themselves; I can help them do that,” Sturdevant said. “Essentially, from my perspective, I want to help people stay well.”
Sturdevant, who grew up in Madison County, was living in Colorado when his wife became pregnant. That prompted his decision to move back to Northwest Arkansas and open a practice.
Fogel is a doctor of Oriental medicine. She practices acupuncture and recommends Oriental herbal medications for her patients.
The Oriental therapies coupled with chiropractic can help a lot of people toward wellness, Sturdevant said.
Sturdevant and Fogel also work with a massage therapist, Krystal Bolls, who provides another element in the natural healing process.
They have 1,200 SF that includes four treatment rooms, an office and a reception area.
They estimate they’ve spent $5,000 to open the new practice, which doesn’t include materials and equipment they already owned. Sturdevant said they hope to add at least one additional office assistant over the next year.
