Deffenbaugh Joins Bulls

Fayetteville native Tommy Deffenbaugh has been named assistant basketball coach at the University of South Florida in Tampa.

Deffenbaugh had been at Western Michigan University for one season and has previous coaching experience at Southern Illinois University, Oral Roberts University and Southwest Missouri State.

Deffenbaugh will join new Tampa coach Robert McCullum’s staff at Tampa in Conference USA. McCullum was the head coach at Western Michigan for the last three seasons. He and Deffenbaugh were assistants together at Southern Illinois.

Former Oklahoma University and NFL great Lee Roy Selmon is the athletic director at Tampa.
