Turner Named Editor of Morning News

Tom Stallbaumer, publisher of The Morning News, announced on April 12 that Rusty Turner will replace Jim Morriss as editor of the Springdale newspaper.

Turner has served as managing editor of the newspaper since 1994. Morriss retired in March after working for The Morning News, under its various names, for the past 53 years.

Turner said Lisa Thompson will replace him as managing editor. She had been Sunday editor of the newspaper for the past 14 months.

“It’s very exciting,” Turner said. “I’m glad that we’ve got things settled now in the newsroom. We’re all looking forward to the next step. We’re going to be appointing an editorial page editor.”

Previously, in addition to being editor, Morriss was also responsible for the editorial page.
