Atwoods to Open Siloam Springs Store
Atwoods plans to open a 40,000-SF store in April in a Siloam Springs building that previously housed a Wal-Mart store.
The company, founded by Wilbur Atwood in 1960 in Enid, Okla., bills itself as “America’s favorite farm and home stores.” Atwoods currently has 22 stores. Until the Siloam Springs store opens, the only Arkansas city with an Atwoods is Fort Smith.
In addition to farm, home and auto supplies, Atwoods now also sells clothing, tools and hardware, lawn and garden supplies, sporting goods, pet supplies and a variety of seasonal merchandise.
“We feel like we’re going to be a real partner in this community,” said Dalton Oden of Springdale, who will manage the Siloam Springs store. “We’re kind of partners with our customers.”
Oden previously worked for Orslen Farm & Home in Springdale.
Wal-Mart left the location at 1401 W. U.S. Highway 412 in 2000 and moved into a new Supercenter in Siloam Springs. A Stage department store currently occupies the other half of the building.
