Springdale Gets Additional Hotels

Tom Bhakta and Terry Dill of T. H. Hospitality LLC on Dec. 30 got a loan of $7.43 million from First Security Bank to begin construction of a new Springdale hotel.

Fairfield Inn & Suites will be at 1099 Rieff St. It will be 57,000 SF and will have 74 units. It is scheduled to be completed late this year. Marriott International is the parent company of Fairfield Inn & Suites.

A 41,000-SF Comfort Suites with 69 units also will be constructed by Bhakta and Dill adjacent to the Fairfield Inn & Suites and is expected to be completed late this year. The parent company of Comfort Suites is Choice Hotels.

The Northwest Arkansas Business Journal announced in April of 2001 that these two hotels would be coming to Springdale.

Bhakta and Dill own several Northwest Arkansas hotels. Together, they own the Best Western Windsor Suites in Fayetteville, the Comfort Inn in Springdale and the Springhill Suites by Marriott in Bentonville.

Bhakta also owns three Bentonville hotels — Hilton Garden Inn, Comfort Inn and Super 8 Motel.

Lewis Automotive Building Bigger Lot

Lewis Automotive Group of Fayetteville on Jan. 10 purchased a building permit valued at $1.69 million to build new offices and a parking lot for its used car division at the corner of Longview Street and Plainview Avenue (west of College Avenue and south of Millsap Road).

The two-level building will be 9,500 SF and will include a large parking lot to display the used vehicles.

May Construction Co. of Fayetteville is the general contractor on the project, which is scheduled to be completed by August.

Riggins Begins Building at New Springdale Subdivision

Kevin Riggins of Riggins Construction in Springdale in January purchased 17 building permits valued at a combined $1.57 million to begin construction at a new subdivision in south Springdale.

Walnut Crossing subdivision will be at the intersection of Powell Street and Walnut Grove Road.

Homes at Walnut Crossing will range from about 1,865-2,046 SF. There will be 75 lots in the subdivision.

Streets at the new subdivision include Mulberry Lane, Sweetgum Lane, Acorn Falls Lane, Golden Meadows Avenue and Service Berry Lane.

Tommy Walker Adds to Wildwood

Tommy Walker Construction Co. of Rogers recently purchased five building permits valued at a combined $784,801 to build more homes at a southwest Bentonville subdivision.

Wildwood subdivision will have 71 lots in phase I. It is located off Arkansas Highway 12 near Brightwood subdivision. The average heated SF of homes at Wildwood will range from 2,000-2,500 SF.

The land owners at Wildwood are John and Mike Charlton.

Haest, River Valley Add to Paradise Valley

River Valley Homes and company President Marty J. Haest Jr. of Springdale on Jan. 21 purchased eight building permits valued at a combined $626,137 to build more homes at an east Springdale subdivision.

The latest homes at Paradise Valley subdivision, near the Northeast Meadows subdivision, will range from 1,229-1,750 SF and will be on Amethyst Avenue and Garnett Road.

Colt Square Buildings Becoming part of Dixie

Ben Israel of Dixie Development of Fayetteville on Dec. 31 secured a loan of $607,500 from Bank of Arkansas to aid in the purchase of two commercial buildings in Fayetteville.

Dixie Development is buying the buildings at Fayetteville’s Colt Square business district just west of College Avenue, south of Township Street and east of Gregg Avenue.

The building’s at 8, 16 and 22 Colt Drive has a total of 6,347 SF. Another building at 2297 and 2325 Green Acres Road, has a total of 3,935 SF.

Dixie Management will manage the facilities. But first, Dixie Development will re-roof the building in Colt Square that formerly housed Marty’s Travel. The company’s landscaping division also will be busy upgrading the exterior of the building.

Woodworks Plus Finances More at Carriage Square

Woodworks Plus of Farmington on Dec. 12 got seven loans totaling $537,760 from Arkansas National Bank for construction of several homes it is building at a west Bentonville subdivision.

Carriage Square, located off Arkansas Highway 102 near Kristyl Heights and Eagle Crest subdivisions, has 189 lots. Woodworks Plus will be building 80 homes at Carriage Square.

Homes at the subdivision will range from 1,350-1,575 SF.

Jim Lemons of Bentonville is the developer of the Carriage Square.

Carpenter Adds Six at Deerfield Place

Tad Carpenter of Carpenter Construction Inc. of Springdale on Jan. 27 purchased six building permits valued at a combined $484,560 to begin construction on new homes at a southeast Fayetteville subdivision.

Deerfield Place is located just off Arkansas Highway 16 across from David Lyle subdivision. The homes are on East County Ridge Road and South Deerfield Drive and will range from 1,720-1,962 SF.

Wohlford Adds to Stonebridge, Palisades

Dennis Wohlford of Wohlford & Co. of Fayetteville on Jan. 6 got three loans totaling $472,000 from United Bank to build homes at a southeast Fayetteville subdivision.

Stonebridge Meadows subdivision is located off Goff Farm Road by Stonebridge Meadows Golf Club south of Arkansas Highway 16. The average homes there will range from 2,500-3,500 SF.

On Jan. 10, Wohlford purchased two building permits at a combined $240,698 to build more homes at a southeast Springdale subdivision. Palisades is located across Arkansas Highway 265 from Basic Construction Co. and White Oak Station. Wohlford’s latest two homes there will be at 866 and 892 Nicholson Ave. and will range from 2,290-2,415 SF.
