St. Edward Mercy Medical Center was recently ranked in the top 1 percent of more than 17,000 healthcare facilities surveyed by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations, an independent not-for-profit organization that evaluates hospitals and other healthcare facilities nationwide.

The hospital earned a score of 99 out of 100 on the survey.

John D. Hoffman, M.D., president / CEO of St. Edward Mercy, said the survey is “extremely thorough and requires a large time commitment” by the hospital’s staff. The survey is conducted every three years and includes review of hospital policies, committee meeting minutes and open medical records as well as interviews of hospital leaders, and on-site evaluations of patient care settings and service areas.

St. Edward Mercy is a member of the Sisters of Mercy Health System of St. Louis.
