Court Privileges Taken From Bird

A Little Rock lawyer won’t be practicing law in the federal courts in the eastern and western districts of Arkansas, if a recent order from Chief U.S. District Judges Susan Webber Wright of Little Rock and Jimm Larry Hendren of Fort Smith stands. Allen W. Bird II, who served as the appointed trustee in the bankruptcy case of Northwest Financial Express Inc., is reportedly planning to appeal the decision to revoke his privileges in the court.

The revocation of privileges follows a Sept. 6 letter from now retired U.S. Bankruptcy Judge Robert F. Fussell, who detailed Bird’s involvement in overcharges to the NWFX estate, including a $10,000 bonus Bird paid an employee, $88,000 in duplicate trustee fees, nearly $42,000 in overpayments for state regulator fees and numerous other unauthorized actions against the estate.
