Athletic World Advertising, off to its best January in its history, has added a new CFO with very strong credentials.

Patrick J. Powers began work at the Fayetteville firm in January as vice president finance/CFO.

Powers recently assisted in the initial public offering for Delta Systems Inc. of Rogers as that company’s president of finance, general manager and CFO.

He previously held positions as controller, subsidiary controller and vice president/finance with two Fortune 500 companies — Hoover Universal Inc. and Mueller Co. Powers earned his CPA certificate working for Price Waterhouse & Co. in Kansas City.

AWA is the world’s largest producer of high school and college sports schedule posters. Founded in 1995, the company recently announced a sales office expansion in Tulsa. AWA set a record for the first two weeks of January with a 437 percent increase ($1.32 million) in sales compared with the same period last year.

AWA President and CEO Gregg Ogden has also announced that the company has begun producing schedule cards that will boost sales by about $10 million by 2004.
