The Arkansas Department of Finance and Administration says the now defunct Taylor Displays Inc. owes back sales taxes to the state of Arkansas totaling $357,186.03.

Timothy J. Leathers, the state commissioner of revenues, cited Taylor Displays in six different filings from Oct. 9-Dec. 6.

Taylor Displays, owned by Greg Taylor, was headquartered at 910 Shaver St. in Springdale with small offices in Little Rock (5410 W. Markham St.) and in Tulsa. The company had about 45 employees before finally closing its doors last fall.

Asterix Inc. opened its similar business Nov. 1 at the same Springdale address with about 25 employees. Joseph Herrod, president of Asterix, said his company specializes in project management for trade shows, conventions and product displays.

Among the clients for Taylor Displays was Wal-Mart Stores Inc.
