Mary E. Goldsbary is a Rogers hometown girl who couldn’t wait to leave the city. After spending time in corporate America working for Starbucks in Seattle, she’s glad to be home.
“Rogers never looked so good,” she said.
Goldsbary is the daughter of Clarice Moore, who also owned a Rogers business, Speaco Foods. Goldsbary said she grew up playing in the back of the old vinegar plant her mother owned.
After her return to the state, Goldsbary spent a few years working as controller and information technology manager for Hanna’s Candle Co.
“At the age of 40, I was blessed with a child,” she said.
Within the first year of motherhood, Goldsbary decided she needed more flexibility in her work and opted to open her own bookkeeping service.
She specializes in small-business bookkeeping and training and says she’ll do “anything accounting, financial-wise, to help the small business succeed.” Goldsbary said she loves accounting and helping business managers make sound financial decisions.
“Startup companies, companies that are overwhelmed by paperwork to get ready for taxes and companies that would be better off spending their money making money than doing accounting” are her potential clients, Goldsbary said.
Goldsbary has invested $5,000 to launch Bookkeeper Plus and believes she’ll make it back in the first year.
“God is really blessing me with good clients,” she said.
With her husband’s help, Goldsbary said she’s converted a room in her home for her new office, but she hopes to open a separate office and hire staff when her mommy duties aren’t as demanding. For now, she’ll visit the client’s work site or invite them to her office, depending on the client’s preference.
