NBC 24/51, KPOM/KFAA, has recently hired a new meteorologist and is searching for another one.

Eric Aldrich, the weekend meteorologist, left the local NBC television station in November to work for the National Weather Service in St. Louis.

Randy Speir, the early morning weatherman, left NBC 24/51 in December “to pursue other opportunities,” said Gary Darnell, the station’s news director.

Bernadette Woods, a meteorologist from Darby, Penn., has been hired to replace Aldrich. She is scheduled to begin working in the Fayetteville newsroom around Dec. 30. Woods, who has a college degree in meteorology, has done some work for Sporting News Radio, Darnell said.

Until Speir’s replacement is hired, Neile Jones will do both the news and the weather for the weekday newscast that airs from 5:30-7 a.m.
