Details set Performance Cleaning Service apart from other crews specializing in the final cleanup after new construction, said Edwin Reichest, owner of the business that was launched in September.

His crews do the final cleanup for both commercial and residential construction projects. Although he’s willing to work for anyone who has just completed a project, Reichest said “99.9 percent” of his business comes from construction contractors.

Contractors often hire a relative or family friend to clean up when a construction project is complete, but Reichest said his professional detail-oriented crews are likely to do a better job.

“We are an actual professional organization,” Reichest said. “There’s a lot of tricks to it. It’s going to get done right, and we have a million-dollar liability policy that also sets us apart.”

Reichest considered starting a professional maid service, but a friend convinced him that turnkey cleanup for contractors might be a better business. Reichest said he invested $3,000 in equipment, supplies and insurance to get the business going and made it back in the first two months of operation.

Leslie Curtis, the friend who convinced Reichest to start the cleaning service, handles the contracts while Reichest handles the cleaning crews. Reichest also hires up to 10 other people to work on a contract basis depending on the job.

Reichest said he expects the company to grow by “leaps and bounds” in the coming years.

“More employees and more crews, more business,” he said. “As long as we get our bids in and our work in, they’ll see the quality; and once they see that, it’s just going to grow.”
