A federal judge has dismissed a lawsuit against IBP Fresh Meats, a division of Tyson Foods Inc. in Springdale.
On Oct. 31, Judge Michael Mihm of the U.S. District Court in Illinois, said the court lacked jurisdiction in the case because wages at IBP’s Joslin, Ill., beef plant are governed by a collective bargaining agreement between the company and a labor union.
Many of the 2,400 employees at IBP’s Joslin plant are members of the United Food and Commercial Workers union, which accepted a five-year contract with wage increases and benefit improvements.
