UA’s Doyle Williams to Receive CPA Award

We hear that Doyle Z. Williams, dean of the Sam M. Walton College of Business at the University of Arkansas, is jetting off to Hawaii to receive a gold medal from the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
The award is the highest honor given to anyone in the accounting profession, said Luz Maria Perez, administrative assistant to Jay L. Rothberg, vice president of AICPA.
The award will be given to Williams on Oct. 22 at the Ritz Carlton hotel on the island of Maui.
The organization has given the award since 1944. This year, there are two recipients. In addition to Williams, Olivia F. Kirtley, former chair of the AICPA and vice president of Vermont American Corp., will also be honored.
Dixie Klein, a spokeswoman for the UA’s business school, said she believes Williams will be only the third or fourth educator to receive the gold medal from the AICPA.
Criteria for the award include qulaity, length of service, motivation, influence and personal attributes.
