Naomi Judd, who teamed with daughter Wynonna to produce six Grammy Awards and several platinum albums and No. 1 songs, will be the keynote speaker at the Women’s Heart Disease & Stroke Celebrity Luncheon next spring in Springdale.

The luncheon will be held March 13 at the Holiday Inn & Convention Center.

Tickets for the event go on sale Jan. 1.

Kim Downum is the Northwest Arkansas regional director of the American Heart Association.

This year’s luncheon had about 800 guests. Downum expects about 1,200 for the 2003 luncheon.

Judd, from Ashland, Ky., was a registered nurse, secretary, waitress and clerk while she raised her family as a single-parent following a divorce.

In 1990, she was diagnosed with a potentially life-threatening liver disease. In 1991, she and Wynonna embarked on a farewell tour across the United States.

The duet of Naomi and Wynonna released 19 albums, two of which went double platinum, four others platinum and four gold. Some of their top singles included “Why Not Me,” “Mama He’s Crazy” and “Love Can Build A Bridge.”

Naomi is also the mother of actress Ashley Judd.
