Designer Charles Jennings tailors his business to Wal-Mart vendors. Manager of Bennett Solutions, a subsidiary company of Bennett Packaging Kansas City Inc., Jennings heads up the design center of the packaging company. It specializes in designing packaging for specific products for Wal-Mart vendors and displays within Wal-Mart stores.

The company uses a $120,000 sample cutting table and $20,000 wide-format printer to print directly on corrugated boards.

Jennings said if a customer were to go into Wal-Mart and look at the packaging that holds products, they’d most likely see work done by Bennett Solutions.

What sets his company apart, Jennings said, is Bennett Solutions’ proximity to Wal-Mart headquarters in Bentonville. Its prime location gives it the advantage of knowing what Wal-Mart wants in vendor packaging. It’s an advantage that Jennings thinks will propel the company forward quickly in the market.

With startup costs between $300,000-$500,000, Jennings said he has no doubt that the company will bring in $2 million-$5 million within the next two years. After that, he said it could increase to as much as $12 million a year. He also said he thinks employee numbers — there are two right now — will double within the next year and a half.
