Area Income Compares Well With Rest of State

Benton County’s prosperity is evident in a recent comparison developed by the Institute for Economic Advancement at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. The home of the world’s largest company, Wal-Mart Stores Inc., Benton County ranked among the top three counties statewide for both median household income and per capita income (See chart).
Overall, Saline County was tops among all 75 Arkansas counties for median household income with $42,569. Lee County was the poorest at $20,510 per household. The statewide average was $32,182.
Pulaski County had the highest per capita income at $21,466 and Lee County was again last at $10,983. The state’s average per capita income was $16,904.
