P.A.M. Transportation Services Inc. Shares Increase

P.A.M. Transportation Services Inc. of Tontitown on July 30 said diluted and basic earnings per share increased to 45 cents during the second quarter, an increase from the 34 cents it reported during the same time last year.

The earnings came on net income of $5 million, up from net income of $2.8 million during the same time last year.

Operating revenues were $70.8 million, a 23 percent increase from $57.4 million for the second quarter last year.

Operating income was $8.7 million, a 47 percent increase from operating income of $5.9 million during the same time last year.

“To say we are very pleased with our second quarter ended June 30, 2002, would be an understatement,” Robert W. Weaver, president, said. “Not only are we proud of our performance — a 23 percent increase in revenue and 32 percent increase in earnings per share, we are also glad to see that the truckload industry as a whole has made significant improvements in the second quarter as well.”
