Access Arena May Be Built

Access Entertainment of Joplin is apparently itching to build a 15,000-18,000 seat arena in either Northwest Arkansas or southwest Missouri.

The company promotes concerts nationwide and publishes fan magazines for recording artists such as Elton John and Allan Jackson. Its concert promotion connections include Willie Nelson, B.B. King, Bob Dylan, The Eagles and Wynonna Judd.

The firm is still shopping for land, but the idea is to give itself a venue for bringing in acts that typically only play in major markets. That could also bring in tourist dollars from fans willing to drive from neighbors such as Tulsa and Kansas City.

Fayetteville’s noise ordinances, which have in recent years prevented concerts at Reynolds Razorback Stadium, will likely eliminate the city from contention.

We hear the massive tracts of idle farmland near the Northwest Arkansas Regional Airport may get a look.
