The Willard and Pat Walker Charitable Foundation on May 16 donated $10,000 to the Butterfield Trail Village Foundation.

The gift will help finance Butterfield’s Alzheimer’s Special Care Unit, which will be used to help treat Alzheimer’s and other related dementia.

BTV is a not-for-profit, non-denominational retirement community in Fayetteville serving people of age 62 and older. All applicants for admission must be able to live independently.

“The timing of this generous contribution is perfect, and we are so grateful to the Walkers,” said Ellen Meenen, president of the BTV Foundation. “We have a real need for a special care unit here at Butterfield, and the goal for BTV is to be the model for dementia care in Northwest Arkansas.”

BTV had a total operating revenue of $6.1 million in 2001 with operating expenses of $5.6 million. This year, BTV expects operating revenues of $6.3 million with operating expenses of $6.2 million.
