The Buck Shops Here

It seems a whitetail buck decided to check out the everyday low prices recently at an Iowa Wal-Mart store, making for several anxious moments around the produce section.

The Muscatine, Iowa, Supercenter is located near a wooded area on the edge of town. The deer reportedly wandered through the automatic doors and past the greeter around 10:30 a.m. on April 30. It was near the vegetables section when it became startled, jumping and slipping on the floor. Store employees held the deer down until animal control officers arrived and led the deer back outside. Wal-Mart spokesman Tom Williams said the event “made for an interesting day for some customers.”

Muscatine police said it was the first time the department had been called out for a deer shopping.

“Unfortunately for the deer, it didn’t get to eat anything or buy anything,” Williams said.

We believe it couldn’t afford anything because it didn’t have any doe.
