Bill O’Reilly, star of Fox TV’s “The O’Reilly Factor” and author of New York Times best seller, “The Factor,” debuted his new radio show on May 8 in scores of markets across America including Northwest Arkansas.

KFAY-AM, 1030, owned by radio giant Cumulus Broadcasting Inc., is carrying the show from 3-5 p.m. weekdays. Dennis Jones, market manager for Cumulus’ 11 stations in Northwest Arkansas and the Arkansas River Valley, replaced Dr. Laura Schlessinger’s morality-based national call-in show with O’Reilly.

“We do our own local research once per year through Stratford Research, and the Dr. Laura show has been on the decline,” Jones said. “That is comparable to what we’ve seen in Arbitron research as well and was compounded by the fact that we needed to get Bill O’Reilly in here.”

O’Reilly, preceded locally by Clark Howard’s consumer advocacy show from 2-3 p.m. and followed by “Sports Rap” from 5-6 p.m., has already made Jones happy. He said the news talk program is drawing rave reviews from callers and advertisers.
