Cafe Santa Fe Suit Heats Up
The three individuals sued in April by two former Cafe Santa Fe franchisees filed a countersuit on May 15 asking for unspecified damages but outlining $576,116 they say the original plaintiffs owe to CSF Franchise Group of Fayetteville.
Tom Flores, Emad Damen and Sherry Ingram also filed a motion that day saying the suit against them should be dismissed because the plaintiffs presented no “facts” to support their allegations.
Phil Bronson and Sad Haleema claim CSF Franchise Group, which currently operates five Cafe Santa Fe restaurants and has two franchise locations, owes them more than $3 million in damages related to breach of contract and fraud.
The original suit — which also named the three CSF employees individually as defendants — stated that Bronson and Haleema are owed $1.9 million for breach of contract damages, at least $536,000 for actual fraud damages and $1 million for punitive damages.
The countersuit claims that Bronson and Haleema breached their franchise agreement with CSF.
