Hiluard “Buddy” Rogers said experience from his varied careers prepared him to open Rogers Financial Planning and become a financial planner and licensed broker.

Rogers said his 21 years in the U.S. Army helped him develop the analytical research skills needed to be a successful financial planner. In 1996, Rogers retired from the service as a lieutenant colonel after working most recently as a recruiter in health care.

Upon retiring, Rogers and his wife moved to Northwest Arkansas.

He then spent five years as an independent consultant for individuals and small-business owners who wanted to improve employer-employee communications.

Rogers Financial Planning will offer mutual funds, stocks, bonds and, soon, insurance. Currently, Rogers shares 800 SF of office space with James Hammons of Hammons Financial Planning & Investments. Rogers said the two businesses likely will merge after he builds a local name.
