Pak Plans to Build Shogun in Bentonville
John Pak, the owner of Shogun Steak House of Japan in Fayetteville’s Spring Creek Centre, plans to open a Shogun in Bentonville by January.
Pak said he borrowed $1 million from the First National Bank of Rogers to construct the 8,000-SF restaurant at 3604 Magellan Blvd. Miller Boskus Lack Architects of Springdale have been drawing up the plans.
Pak said this will be his fourth restaurant. He also owns a Shogun in Branson, Mo., and a restaurant called Ah-So in Mesa, Ariz.
Pak, who was a school teacher in Korea, moved to Fayetteville in 1989 and opened the restaurant there. After an expansion last year, the Fayetteville restaurant now has 5,600 SF of space.
Although there is a chain of Shogun restaurants on the East Coast, Pak says his is independently owned and not a franchise. The word shogun is Japanese for “military general,” he said.
