Morning Glory?s Reopens on Mission

Morning Glory’s Inc., a popular bakery that closed in 1996, reopened in late January at 440 Mission Boulevard in Fayetteville (at the corner of Mission and Maple streets) in a building that previously housed The Village Epicurean, a restaurant.

Morning Glory’s was a staple on Fayetteville’s Center Street from 1989 until it closed in ’96.

The bakery is owned by Pennie, Patty and Todd Reeves, siblings who grew up in New Orleans and a small town outside Lafayette, La.

In addition to baked goods, Morning Glory’s offers take-out meals for breakfast and lunch from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. on weekdays. After Easter, Morning Glory’s will also be open from 7 a.m. to noon on Saturdays.

Lunchtime “staples” include Louisiana favorites such as Cajun chicken and andouille gumbo ($3.25 for a cup, $5.50 for a bowl) and red beans and rice ($2.50 for a cup, $5.50 for a bowl).

Breakfast specials include grilled bananas Foster ($4.25) on Mondays and a black bean burrito ($4.25) on Wednesdays.

Lunch specials include a muffuletta sandwich on Tuesdays, “crawfish plaisance” on Wednesdays and “Church Point crawfish burger” on Fridays. All lunch specials are $6 and change monthly.
