Advanced Environmental Recycling Technologies Inc. said audited fourth-quarter net sales were $7.9 million for 2001. That amount is up from $6.1 million for the same period of 2000.

Net income for the quarter, which ended Dec. 31, was $22,863, compared with a loss of $1.3 million for the comparable period of 2000.

For the year, the Springdale-based company recorded net sales of $33.2 million, up from $27.5 million in 2000. Net income for the year was $312,000, up from a loss of $2.2 million in 2000.

AERT manufactures a line of composite building products from recycled polyethylene plastic and waste wood fiber. The company operates a manufacturing facility in Texas and a recycling and manufacturing facility in Springdale.
