Small and medium businesses in every industry often unofficially elect an employee to be the computer guru for the office, directing all computer-related questions to that person who seems to know the most about technology. Howard Roberts opened MCSETeach.com Inc. to formally educate those go-to employees who help their office mates manage their desktops.
Roberts, a Microsoft-certified systems engineer and trainer, offers 12 courses, most of which are taught in five days for $1,000 per person. Group rates are negotiable.
The small classroom Roberts uses in Fayetteville’s Oak Plaza Shopping Center can accomodate eight students, and MCSETeach supplies the needed computer hardware and software.
Roberts said he spent about $15,000 of his personal savings to open the school.
MCSETeach students can take Roberts’ courses to prepare for the Microsoft certification exams, too. So far, Roberts has taught two weeklong sessions with his new business, and he plans to offer day and night classes in the coming months.
