Hunt Finances WRMC Department

Johnelle Hunt on March 5 donated $1 million to Washington Regional Medical System to help finance a 50,000-SF women’s wing in the new medical center. In honor of the contribution, the section will be named the Johnelle Hunt Women’s Center. It will include the hospital’s maternity and neonatal services.

The new 345,000-SF Washington Regional Medical Center is scheduled to open in August.

Johnelle Hunt and her husband J.B. Hunt are known in the area for building the J.B. Hunt Transport Services empire in Lowell.

In a press release, WRMC CEO Steve Lampkin said, “We are overwhelmed by Mrs. Hunt’s tremendous generosity. This magnificent gift demonstrates her commitment to the community and will represent that commitment for years to come.”
