Beverly Signs $10 Million Deal with Compaq

On Jan. 29 Beverly Enterprises Inc. of Fort Smith announced a $10 million agreement with Compaq Computer Corp. of Houston. In the deal, Beverly named Compaq the official personal computer vendor for the health care enterprise.

According to a press release from the Compaq, Beverly will in the first six months of the contract receive more than 8,000 desktop models to use in 475 American locations.

Compaq Financial Services will manage Beverly’s lease of the computers. As part of the agreement, Compaq will become Beverly’s primary technology partner.

Beverly Enterprises operates 471 skilled nursing facilities as well as 29 assisted living centers, 56 home care and hospice agencies and 160 outpatient therapy clinics.

Shares of Beverly were trading at $7.26 on Tuesday after closing at $7.40 on Monday.
