Forty Under 40: Tim W. Kizer
After working as a fly-fishing guide, a manager of a cruise-dining ship and a sales rep for White’s Auto-Fisher, Tim W. Kizer, 36, left Montana and returned to his home state in 1993 to attend graduate school at the University of Arkansas.
Kizer grew up in Pine Bluff. He spent eight years in the U.S. Army and Army Reserves before earning a bachelor’s degree in history in 1991 from the University of Louisville in Kentucky.
In 1995, Kizer became a technology specialist with the UA’s Division of Continuing Education. In 1999, he took a job as managing director of the Walton College’s Information Technology Research Center.
Two years later, Kizer became director of the Center for Management and Executive Development in the Walton College.
Kizer said CMED works to “help Arkansas leaders and organizations develop the skills to survive in a sometimes turbulent, always changing environment.”
Kizer wants to see talented Arkansans stay in Arkansas for their careers.
“Arkansas professionals and companies need to think more entrepreneurially,” he said.
