Forty Under 40: Tim Hutchinson Jr.

A member of President George W. Bush’s ballot counting team that was dispatched to Florida during the 2000 Presidential election controversy, Tim Hutchinson Jr. knows about attention to detail.

This past May he opened Williams & Hutchinson Attorneys at Law in Rogers with partner Ronald A. Williams. Hutchinson, 28, wants to build the firm first but said he does have future political aspirations.

He earned a bachelor’s degree in economics from Harding University and graduated in December of 1999 from the University of Arkansas School of Law. His education was interrupted for one year in 1996 when father Tim Hutchinson successfully ran for the U.S. Senate. Tim Jr. worked actively for the campaign that fall.

After the senate race, Hutchinson joined Wal-Mart Stores Inc. as a governmental relations specialist.

After graduating from law school, the Bentonville native went to work for the Sebastian County prosecutor’s office where he became the first lawyer in Arkansas to successfully prosecute an elected official for violation of the state’s freedom of information act.

During late 2000, he went to work for the Benton County prosecutor where he became that office’s first lawyer to win a jury verdict against manufacturers of methamphetamine.
