Forty Under 40: Cesar Aguilar
As an avid soccer fan, the highlight of Cesar Aguilar’s year has been coaching the FC United age 11-and-under boys team to a second-place finish at the 2002 Arkansas State Soccer Association finals.
The 33-year-old director of the Rogers Community Support Center said it’s a great accomplishment for his team.
Since taking the position in April 2000, Aguilar, an El Salvador native and resident of Rogers since 1985, has worked to enrich Rogers and promote multicultural awareness through events such as Cinco de Mayo and a book, “Friendly Facts for Living in Rogers.” Published in February 2002, the 24-page, bilingual book offers information for new residents.
Aguilar is very proud of the book because, “it’s the first of its kind in the state,” he said.
Active in the Rogers Chamber of Commerce and Workforce Development Institute, as well as a member of the Lions Club and LULAC – League of United Latin American Citizens – Aguilar also helped establish the Rogers Adult Soccer League in 1993. Originally started with eight teams, the league now boasts 50.
Before becoming director of the city’s Community Support Center, Aguilar worked at JB Hunt Transport Inc.
