Fayetteville lawyer Conrad Odom said he will make an announcement soon regarding a possible run for the District 35 state Senate spot. The seat will be vacated when term limits oust Sen. David Malone, D-Fayetteville, from office at the end of this year.

Odom, 36, has been a lawyer for Odom & Elliott law firm for 10 years since graduating from the University of Arkansas Law School in 1991. He spent two three-year terms on the Fayetteville Planning Commission and a two-year stint as a member of the Fayetteville City Council.

“I am seriously considering the position and expect to make an announcement within the next week or two,” Odom told the Northwest Arkansas Business Journal. “I really enjoyed my work [with the planning commission and city council]. I found it very rewarding.”

He would run as a Democrat. The primary will be held May 21, followed by the general election Nov. 5.

Odom and his wife, Laura, have two children. His father, Bobby, founded the Fayetteville law firm of Odom & Elliott in 1982. Former Tyson Foods Inc. CEO Wayne Britt, 52, previously told the Business Journal he was also considering seeking the same seat.
