PetsMart Plans Fayetteville Store

On Dec. 10, the Fayetteville Planning Commission approved plans for four new buildings at the Steele Crossing Shopping Center in CMN Business Park II.

At 18,875 SF, the main building will be home to a PetsMart store. The other three buildings will house 31,500 SF of shops. The structures will be located just east of Kohl’s department store.

Milholland Co. of Fayetteville is the engineer. JDN Development Co. of Atlanta is the representative of record for the project. Right Architects of Atlanta is serving as the architect.

John Sweeney of Right Architects said it will probably take about six months to construct the building after all the paperwork is approved by the city.

Founded in 1987 in Phoenix, Ariz., PetsMart Inc. is the nation’s leading retail supplier of products and services for pets. The company operates more than 560 pet superstores in the United States and Canada as well as a large pet supply catalog business.

PetsMart had gross sales of $2.2 billion in fiscal 2000 but posted a net loss for the year of $30.9 million.
