The Morning News is now being sold through 16 area McDonald’s restaurants with proceeds being donated to Ronald McDonald House Charities.
David Whittlesey, marketing manager at the Morning News, said the program began Nov. 1 and will continue indefinitely. He said the newspapers are sold to McDonald’s at the standard wholesale rate. Both the Morning News and McDonald’s then donate part of the proceeds to Ronald McDonald House. Whittlesey said the donation amounts to at least 40 cents per newspaper. The retail price for the newspaper is 50 cents daily and $1 on Sundays.
Whittlesey said he didn’t know how many newspapers had been sold through McDonald’s so far, but added, “We hope we can sell thousands of papers a month by doing this and it will be significant proceeds for the Ronald McDonald House.”
