David to Open in January

Gaylord Willis, owner of Uncle Gaylord’s Mountain Cafe at 315 W. Mountain St. in Fayetteville, plans to open a restaurant named David early next year half a block from his current business.

David will be managed by David Rodriguez, who works for Willis at Uncle Gaylord’s. Rodriguez left Uncle Gaylord’s in July to open Everybody’s Food Company on the downtown Fayetteville square. He has since closed that business and gone back to work at Uncle Gaylord’s.

Willis said he had the idea for David’s three years ago, but the building at 9 S. School Ave. only recently became available to lease. The building, which previously housed The No-Name Club and before that Radar, is owned by Dash Goff of Fayetteville.

Willis said David will feature Italian and Mexican cuisine. The two-story, 2,300-SF restaurant also will have a full bar.

With the new Fayetteville Public Library scheduled to be constructed just south of David, Willis said, the building looked like it was in a prime location for a new restaurant. The library won’t be open until after construction is completed in about two years, though.
