Palmer Hired at KFSM

Shawn Palmer will take over Dec. 3 as news director at KFSM, Channel 5, in Fort Smith.

Palmer will replace Bur Edson, who has served for seven years as both news director and anchor. Edson will continue to anchor the 5 and 6 p.m. newscasts for KFSM Monday through Thursday. Steve Voorhies will continue to serve as KFSM’s assistant news director in Fayetteville.

Palmer previously worked as night news editor for KRQE in Albuquerque, N.M. Before that, he was news director at KSPR in Springfield, Mo.

Van Comer, general manager for KFSM, said the station is in the preliminary stages of redesigning its set and graphics, but the project won’t be finished until sometime next year.
