Fogg Lifts More Vendor Clients

Fogg Business Solutions Inc. of Lowell has signed its sixth retail vending client and is in the process of implementing software for the well-known company. FBS would not disclose the names of its clients, but CEO Britt Fogg said they all call on Wal-Mart Stores Inc. of Bentonville.

FBS, a retail solutions provider, was founded by Fogg in 1993. The firm takes point-of-sale data that vendors receive back from Wal-Mart’s RetailLink system and tailors it for the individual companies’ needs. FBS then acts as a data warehouse where firms can do ad hoc analysis of their sales.

FBS software packages start at $38,000 each. The product is less expensive for firms that let FBS manage the data in-house. Depending on the size of the company, that price structure can range from $1,500-$6,000 monthly.

“The requirements suppliers keep getting from Wal-Mart buyers are beyond the capabilities of what RetailLink can provide,” Fogg said. “Our goal is to fill that gap, and our companies find that by automating many of the reports they previously ran themselves we’re saving them time and money.”

FBS spent the last year providing high-touch service for its existing clients and did not market itself at all. But Fogg said the firm is already in the process of signing its seventh major client.
