Edgewater Technology Inc., a Massachusetts firm with a substantial presence in Arkansas, launched a logistics software package recently at the premier trucking industry conference.

The software, developed in collaboration with Symbol Technologies Inc. of Holtsville, N.Y., is designed to provide real-time shipment status and tracking for freight management and customer service purposes.

The company debuted the Wireless Less-than-Truckload Management Solution at last month’s American Trucking Association’s annual management conference in Nashville, Tenn.

The company aims to reach carriers seeking tracking systems similar to those already in use by such industry giants as FedEx and Yellow Freight System, said Diane Ort, director of consulting for Edgewater.

Edgewater Chairman Clete Brewer and several other officers remain based in Fayetteville, though the company, formerly StaffMark Inc., has moved its headquarters to Wakefield, Mass.
