Drivers Select Inc. in Springdale gives Northwest Arkansas transportation companies an advantage against the coming vacation-packed months. Many truck drivers request more time away from their rigs to spend with family during the holidays. Drivers Select leases class A, commercial-driver’s-licensed and U.S. Department of Transportation-qualified drivers to fill the empty seats. Operators can be leased for single runs and variable time frames or hired for permanent positions.

Lynda Poole co-owns the company with Andy and Terri Heavener, and Poole manages the day-to-day operations from a 900-SF office in Springdale’s Ozark Center Point Place.

Driver’s Select leases employees from a pool of 50-100 certified drivers, and Poole said she fills 3-10 orders for operators daily. Since the business opened in March, 50 companies have called the agency for orders.

Poole said her 10 years of employment industry experience helped craft the venture.

Drivers working for Poole and the Heaveners do not pay any fees for job leads. The companies leasing the operators through Drivers Select pay Poole’s toll, the drivers’ wages and worker’s compensation insurance fees.

Poole said drivers always have the option of declining a run without penalization, because the operator’s fees depend on the pay scale of the leaser.
