On Oct. 15, Landers of Little Rock officially took over the 34-acre Nelms Auto Stores lot at the corner of Interstate 540 and Arkansas Highway 112 in Fayetteville.

Steve Landers said the dealership will carry more than 1,000 vehicles — including 300 Chevrolet, 250 Toyota, 200 Honda, 50 Acura and 250 used cars. Shoppers also will have access to some 4,000 vehicles on Landers’ other nine Arkansas car lots.

Landers, who founded Landers Auto Group 30 years ago, sold the business in 1995 to United Auto Group. Landers is now president of the south central region for UAG. His son, Steve Landers Jr., will manage the Fayetteville dealership. Dwight Everett is in charge of UAG’s Arkansas operations.

Landers is currently in the process of moving his Toyota dealership in Springdale to the Fayetteville lot.

Don Nelms — who sold his Honda, Chevrolet and Acura dealerships to Landers — sold his Lincoln-Mercury dealership to Tim Herd, who moved it to a lot at the corner of College Avenue and Township Road in Fayetteville. Nelm’s Subaru dealership has been moved to 2781 N. College Ave. and is being run by his sons, Dennis and David Nelms.

Landers said the Arkansas dealerships that bear his name brought in about $600 million in revenue last year.
