Garrison Sells $1.33 Million Worth of J.B. Hunt Stock

Wayne E. Garrison, chairman of J.B. Hunt Transport Services Inc., sold 55,000 shares of the company’s stock between Aug. 27 and Aug. 29. The net proceeds were expected to be about $1.33 million.

Garrison, 48, has served as chairman since May 1995. He joined the company in 1976 as a plant manager. He’s also served as vice president of finance (1978), executive vice president (1979), president (1982), CEO (1987) and vice chairman of the board (1986-1991).

The company’s stock broke $20 on July 12 and reached a 52-week high of $25.60 later that month. Since Sept. 1, it’s hovered around $21-$22.

Garrison has been on the Lowell transportation services firm’s board since 1978. Hunt’s products include truckload and intermodal transportation, dedicated fleet management, electronic commerce and logistics management.

For the six months ended June 30, Hunt’s revenues fell 9 percent to $1.02 billion. Net income was down 36 percent to $10.2 million.
