Alltel Could Be Bracing for Growth

The nature of the telecommunications industry these days leads to constant speculation about change, so it’s not surprising that theories abound regarding the future of Alltel Corp. of Little Rock.

In recent years, analysts who follow Alltel have been convinced the company would unload the information services unit and use the cash to buy more communications properties. It hasn’t happened.

Now, as reported in Arkansas Business recently, analysts wonder whether Alltel can afford to compete in the wireless telecommunications arena as a regional player.

I don’t think many people imagined Alltel would become the size company that it is today. It’s not inconceivable to think Alltel can grow into an even bigger player through acquisitions and partnerships.
