Startup businesses and new-to-technology firms looking to lease custom computers in Rogers will have to go west.

Ar-Tech Computer Inc., founded in 1980 and believed to be the oldest custom computer and repair store in Northwest Arkansas, recently moved to 2301 W. Walnut in Rogers’ Turtle Creek Plaza. The company was at 400 S. 8th St. for about 15 years, but owner Cathleen Hansen said it was time to get closer to the west side of town.

Ar-Tech offers retail PC sales (including a line of its own customer Ar-Tech computers), computer service, network cabling and support and in-house and on-site service.

“The space we have is about the same, about 1,200 SF,” Hansen said. “But it’s definitely more usable at our new location. Our techs have much better spaces and work areas, too. The primary reason we moved, though, was we wanted to be more accessible to the area of Rogers that’s growing near I-540.”

Ar-Tech’s lease program for businesses is in its fourth year, and Hansen said it’s better than ever. Offering a number of plans including a 36-month lease, Ar-Tech offers warranty options and free upgrades. The cost of leasing one custom-built unit varies greatly, depending on specifications and a wide range of add-ons, but Hansen said a common price range is $75-$100 per month.

“Building computers for individual businesses is the philosophy Ar-Tech was built upon,” Hansen said. “Our goal is to be responsive to individual needs. We have about 70 lease clients including everything from Mom-and-Pop businesses that are just getting into computers to Wal-Mart vendors, banks, health care services and others.”

Lease-to-buy is an option, and Hansen said installation and support are included in her lease prices. Ar-Tech, found on the Web at www.nwanet.com/artech/index.htm, also carries a variety of retail PC lines.
