Tyson Employee Shot
A supervisor at Tyson Foods Inc.’s Jackson, Miss., plant is in stable condition at a local hospital after being shot in the neck and leg by a disgruntled employee Monday afternoon.
The employee, 29-year-old Fredrick Russell, has been charged with aggravated assault. The supervisor, 40-year-old Steven Bell, was attempting to have a counseling session with Russell when Russell allegedly became upset and went to the parking lot to retrieve a gun from his car. He then re-entered the plant and shot Bell.
Russell was still in police custody Wednesday morning.
The plant has 879 employees. No one else was hurt during the incident.
Tyson Foods is headquartered in Springdale.
