KREB, 1190 AM “The Fan” in Bentonville has added Little Rock talk-show host Randy Rainwater to its afternoon sports lineup.

Rainwater’s “Drive Time Sports” recently began airing Monday through Friday from 3-5 p.m. on KREB. The show originates from KABZ, 103.7 FM “The Buzz” in Little Rock and is carried statewide on 14 stations.

Britt James, KREB’s sports director, said his station wanted to give listeners more locally based sports programming. KREB, which broadcasts on 1190 AM in Bentonville and 99.5 and 96.7 FM in Fayetteville, is the local ESPN affiliate, carrying that network’s programming during the day.

The station is one of five locally owned by Butler Broadcasting Inc.

“Even though Randy is in Little Rock, he talks mostly about the Razorbacks, and we like the fact that he gets input from a statewide call-in audience,” James said. “That adds comments and opinions to our lineup from throughout the state.”

Several prominent Arkansas sports figures alternate as Rainwater’s co-hosts on the show. Britt said he might add Rainwater’s “Friday Night Scoreboard” call-in show this fall, which airs live from 10 p.m. to midnight following high school football games.
